Cabinet approves Rupee Symbol

Government has endorsed the new symbol for Indian Rupee (INR). The symbol incorporates the sign of 'Ra' in Devanagari and the Roman capital 'R'.

The government has selected it from 3000 thousand entries. The design was recommended by the jury which got the approval by the cabinet.

The design was prepared by D UdayaKumar, a faculty of IIT Guwahati.

So, new Indian Rupee Symbol is going to be introduced soon. We are glad and proud for D Udaya Kumar, whose design has been selected as the symbol of Indian Rupee. Mr Kumar is a grtaduate from IIT Mumbai and just joined the IIT, Guwahati as a faculty member. Rupee, the Indian currency, is all set to have a symbol like the dollar, the pound or the yen.
