you need to upgrade to 7 for better speed! NOD 32 is best! I use it for free
kaspersky has better deduction rate! but it's resource hungry ... Mcafee is useless, Norton 2010 reviews says it's lighter than the previous versions! But no handson experience!
Go for nod32! try to get it for free Nod 1 user 1 yr protection cost you Rs.600 kaspersky 800 (3 user) norton - 900 1 user ...

- Kaspersky slows down your system and creates too much blocking etc. especially with torrents etc.
- Mcafee is not effective enough for a heavy user. You are most likely to get infected and not even know about it.
- Norton Gaming edition is excellent and fast.
- ESET Smart Security (Nod32) is the best I think.
Well...given your choices it has to be either kaspersky or norton bcos,
1.Avast pro simply has more features such as the sandbox which in actuality sucks compared to free ones such as sandboxie..but avast (free or pro) has quite a solid protection but it cannot match the paid softwares.
2.NOD32 is really not good.I have used its latest version and ended up with rootkits. The antivirus part is good but it fails miserably against spyware. Its only plus is that it is ultra lightweight which i suppose is not such a big concern as you have 2 gigs.
3.McAfee is a resource monster. Its protection is also not good compared to norton or kaspersky.
I would personally go for kaspersky as norton just offers protection that is only slightly better than avast and costs high.
Also IMO kaspersky is the only antvirus worth paying for...Go for it dude...I personally assure you wont regret it.

every website(the websites mentioned above) had its own no.1 antivirus and antispywares ,firewalls and total-built-in-protection ..one cant buy it on its basis only!the real antivirus owners pay money for these websites to show their antivirus is the no.1 in the world !!!
KIS had best in suit features and good but not awesome as that
it didnt believe all the softwares you installed in your pc unless until you save believe it otherwise it will alarm you and frustrate you !!!
coming to the updates of KIS ..damn it ..takes hours to update ..it will also frustrate you !!!
firewall starts blocking everything unless and until you exclude that thing from it ..again it will frustrate you !!!
finally what iam saying simply is it doesnt allow you to do your work !!!
now its your turn to choose (all the above mentioned things are experienced things and i uninstalled it and using avast 5 !!! avast is the trusted by many home users .sorry not many its million .it is the first free anti-virus released by avast team mate by several years ago and still good enough!!!BEFORE KIS tested iam using avast 4 )
the very best best thing about avast is its "BOOT TIME SCAN" option
you can ask me what is use of this "BOOT TIME SCAN"?
here you go :
for example a pc is infected by full of viruses and pc doesnt open due to viruses .you open pc in safe mode and install avast and start boot time scan and relax ..it will delete all the viruses one by one cleanly and will save a log report for future reference .it is simply awesome software provided by "avast team".thanks to avast team for doing their fair and generous job.

listen my advise dont go for nod32 ...you will end-up another hack !!! their engines dont work !!! i have lot of experience and tested lots of virus using nod32 3 and 4 and it failed to detect !!!
but nod32 version 2.7 is good ..i will rate 8 out of 10 ..nod32 team just didnt take care or bother about latest versions because chinese webistes are providing free usernames and passwords to the users!!!

I had installed KIS and it blocked by outlook mail id.Neither I could receive mail nor could send.Their customer support is also pathetic. Now I am using Avira and it is working smooth and can detect almost every latest viruses.
go for Microsoft Security Essentials its free daily updatable definition update file is available just you have to pass the GENUINE VALIDATION TASTE so no more expired subscription buy letter in mail id and it really working man i am using it from Nov 09.
if you scan pc with Microsoft Security Essentials(suppose today) the result of scanning reported will come day after tomorrow !!!

Time magazine says sorry to Indian-Americans
‘Time’ magazine has apologised to Indian-Americans following the publication of a column by journalist Joel Stein which offended and outraged the large community, especially those in New Jersey. “We sincerely regret that any of our readers were upset by Joel Stein's recent humour column ‘My Own Private India.’ It was in no way intended to cause offence,” the Time magazine said after large number of Indian-Americans demanded an apology from the magazine and the columnist. “I truly feel stomach-sick that I hurt so many people,” responded Stein, who in his column 'My Own Private India' gave his own impression of how his home town of Edison in New Jersey has changed over the years with the desi influx.
Nearly one in every five resident of this New Jersey city are Indian Americans; thus making it one of the few such cities in the United States. “For a while, we assumed all Indians were geniuses. Then, in the 1980s, the doctors and engineers brought over their merchant cousins, and we were no longer so sure about the genius thing. In the 1990s, the not-as-brilliant merchants brought their even-less-bright cousins, and we started to understand why India is so damn poor,” Stein wrote in the issue dated July 5. “Eventually, there were enough Indians in Edison to change the culture. At which point my townsfolk started calling the new Edisonians 'dot heads'.
One kid I knew in high school drove down an Indian-dense street yelling for its residents to 'go home to India'," Stein wrote. "Sometime after I left, the town became a maze of charmless Indian strip malls and housing developments. Whenever I go back, I feel what people in Arizona talk about: a sense of loss and anomie and disbelief that anyone can eat food that spicy," he wrote. The article outraged many Indian-Americans. "...I always thought it was hilarious when I'd get the crap kicked out of me by kids like Stein who would yell 'go back to India, dothead!' I was always ROTFLMAO when people would assume that I wasn't American. He really captured the brilliant humour in that one too!" wrote Kal Penn, the popular Indian-American actor.
Indian-Americans also launched an online petition demanding Time and CNN to remove the article from their online edition. “Such prestigious magazine like Time should not have allowed such an article to be published in the first place. We respectfully request Time magazine to remove the article from the web and have Mr. Joel Stein write an apology letter that shows some remorse," the petition said. Regretting that his article hurt the feelings of so many Indian Americans, Stein wrote: "I was trying to explain how, as someone who believes that immigration has enriched American life and my hometown in particular, I was shocked that I could feel a tiny bit uncomfortable with my changing town when I went to visit it. If we could understand that reaction, we'd be better equipped to debate people on the other side of the immigration issue."
US Company Set to Ship Billions of Gallons of Water from Alaska to India
India is set to be one of the first parts of the world hit by a major water crisis. India is hurting for water. With rapidly growing populations of people and a rising middle class that is mimicking the wasteful water consumption habits well known here in the United States, coupled with poor water management practices,
One Texas-based water supply management company, S2C Global Systems, thinks at least, it's smart for their bottom line, if not for the environment. They're all lined up to ship billions of gallons of water annually from an Alaskan city to India, and other parts of Asia and the Middle East.
Sitka, Alaska will sell water from its Blue Lake Reservoir for a penny a gallon to Alaska Resource Management, a company formed by S2C and True Alaska Bottling, will export as much as 2.9 billion gallons each year, providing the city with as much as $26 million annually. It could earn as much as $90 million annually if it can sell off the rest of its maximum water right of 9 billion gallons.
According to Circle of Blue, "This will be the world's first large-volume exports of water via tanker Fresh water is set to be the next "big oil" of the world, with supplies in some areas growing exceedingly tight. Technologies from smart metering to irrigation management to purification all seem to be slower to reach areas like India than tankers of exported water. However, while businesses are dashing to find a profit in water exportation, water management will need to become far more popular globally if we're to avoid a worldwide water shortage.
S2C is set to start shipping water within eight months, using
